Medallia Brand

In 2019 we took the Medallia brand through a major update, right before the IPO. The goal was to modernize Medallia but keep some of the equity that our founders and many Medallians were fond of.

My Role: Creative Director and some design work.

The Team: Brad Matsushita, Sam Renwick and Violet Office. A collaboration between our in-house team and external talent.

The Launch

The new Medallia logo included a custom typeface while keeping the diamond as a heritage element of the brand. We started to think of the diamond as a north star, representing the way Medallia guides companies along the path to creating better experiences.

The external launch of the brand system included a blog, press release, and a lot of coordination across the company. We launched the logo on social with the video above.

Internally we worked with our People and Culture team to coordinate celebrations in all of our global offices, including swag and lots of goodies.

Creative Exploration

A big part of the redesign was exploring the different elements we could work with in our system. The north star concept gave us a jumping off point when it came to playing with the diamond and color. We were also in the middle of designing a large office space, which gave us the opportunity to think about how our new brand would live in a physical space.

Guidelines

After working with our co-founders and executives to get buy-in on the new brand, we built out a number of templates and brand guidelines. These were used by press, Medallians, and external creative partners. A few sample pages are shown below.
